Frank Carlton was born in Blackbrook in 1936 and was a pupil at St Marys and Parr Central schools. He was a sprinter for Sutton Harriers before signing for St Helens RLFC in 1953. He also played rugby for Wigan, Lancashire, England and Great Britain. The photograph was taken in Central Studios, George Street, St Helens.
