Greengate Railway Bridge. Thatto Heath.
Thatto Heath, Circa 1990s.
Credit: Philip Wilkinson
The railway bridge that spanned the Liverpool to Wigan Line has been removed some years ago. This bridge was the railway line to the Greengate brickworks. The Railway line went across Ravenhead road and around the Ravenhead bottle works before heading towards Watson Street. All evidence off its existence has been removed.
Greengate factory is in the background. Not sure the date of when I took this photograph (back end of 1980s or early 1990s) but it was taken from the bridge further up the railway line next to Alexandra Colliery and it went to Roughdales open space in Thatto Heath. This bridge is still in existence.
