H. Doulton & Co. Rowley Regis. Plinth Brick.
West Park, Prior to 1910.

Henry Doulton & Company plinth brick found at the bottom of a wall on Prescot Road, West Park. St Helens.
Historically, Henry Doulton is associated with the sanitary pipe and brickworks at Rowley Regis, West Midlands (1849). His brother: John is associated with the running of the Doulton company in Boundary Road, St. Helens (1849) not far away from where I found this enigmatic brick that has been brought to St Helens from the West Midlands.
Doulton blue bricks were made in Rowley Regis because the type of clay required to make them. Doulton red bricks were made in St Helens due to the sandstone content within the local clay.
