Engine Lock, Sankey Canal, during 2016 excavation

Engine Lock was effectively lost to plant growth in the years after the canal being closed. I have vague memories of seeing some coping stones still just visible in the early 1980s. It was exposed in Spring 2016 as part of the works to improve the footpath through that section of Sankey Valley.
