A DANCE troupe has named grand champions of the International Festival of Dance and Performing Arts at Disneyland Paris after winning gold or silver prizes in 15 categories in the world wide competition.

Jeanette McCulloch School of Dance in Sutton Manor sent more than 45 competitors aged 12 to 25 to the premier dance championships which is open to dance schools, groups, performing arts schools, musical theatre schools, duo and solo performers, singers and musical groups.

After arriving on October 4, by October 8 the team, who were not selected individually but put themselves forward to take part, walked away from the tough competition with 15 trophies and for the first time named as the Grand Champions of the entire festival.

In addition to their fantastic wins, they also performed their own 20 min showcase in the park, as well as leading the Disney parade.
Proud teacher Suzanne Jones, said: "We've competed at the festival before, this is our third time after raising £9,000 to get us all there. We can't afford to go every year we go every other year.

"We've done well in the past but to win this many and get the grand prize is just amazing, all the dancers just ran to the stage in shock and they deserve this prize because they've worked so hard.

"It was a full on weekend and they all behaved themselves and performed brilliantly. I'm really proud of them."
