A winter fun day, which was organised by the St Helens Youth Service, saw around 160 people using a synthetic ice rink.

Children got to learn how to ice skate on the day, with some giving it a go for the first time.

There was also face painting, arts and crafts, nail art, Wii dance challenges, pool, a cake sale and circus skills.

Hayley Lythgoe, youth and play co-ordinator, said: “The ice rink gave children an opportunity to take part in something that many had never experienced before and it was lovely to see them enjoy themselves with their friends and members of their families.

“It was a great opportunity to meet parents and carers and to bring members of the community together.”
