Leslie Stuart Fairclough 1902 - 1951
Town Centre, 1915
This is my uncle Les Fairclough who was in WW1 as a young drummer boy in the 4th South Lancashire,he was born in 1902 so he must have only been around 14 yrs of age when he enlisted, as on Christmas day 1917 when on leave he was signed to play for St.Helens rugby league team where he went on to have a glittering career even playing for Great Britain in Australia and New Zealand in 1928 and he also had the privilege of being chosen to captain the 1929 GB team
